Driving a Car Safely

Total words: 410

One of the greatest things that teenagers look forward to is getting their driver's license and getting the freedom to do whatever they want. Therefore, in all that excitement they forget the fact that they need to drive safely. Teenagers get into accidents because of their reckless behavior while driving. Not only teenagers, but adults make the same mistake. My goal here is to discuss the things that come under driving a car safely.

The common mistake that every driver makes is being on the phone while driving. Cell phones have been known to distract the driver from concentrating on the road. The main distraction is dialing a number from the cell phone while driving. For instance, my friend has been in close call accidents where he was dialing up a number and wasn't paying attention to the road and almost  got into a head on collision. A cell phone's purpose in the car should be to use it for only emergency calls such as an accident or it can be used by a passenger.

In order to drive safely wearing a seat belt is important and necessary. Seat belts save lives if they are used properly at all the times. Wearing a seat belt is an easy way to avoid your self from being injured severely, if an accident occurs.  All the drivers should wear a seat belt right after they sit in the car, and before getting on a road should make sure that everyone is wearing a seat belt.

Smoking in the car while driving is another common mistake made by a driver. As a matter of fact, smoking is considered a secondary distraction, along with talking on the phone. Moreover, if you smoke while driving and you drop the cigarette, that interrupts the concentration of the driver. Drivers should be very care full while driving or the best caution is to smoke before you drive or afterwards when you are done driving.

Driving safely is not only limited to the safety of the driver but includes safety of individuals in the car and on the road. A slight mistake can become fatal and end up destroying many lives. Driving safely not only ensures a safe life but also provides a pleasant journey. It should never be taken easy when someone has responsibility of so many lives. Taking proper precautions and enough time makes driving less stress full and gives a guaranty of safety.
