Buying A Camcorder

Today’s world has become very advance in technology. Every day there is something new discovered. Products like cell phone, camcorder, car, and computer has made life so much easier. Some times it is really hard to decide what we should buy and what we should not. Being a salesperson in an electronic store, 6^th Avenue, I am familiar with almost all the new gadgets available in the market. One day a very good friend, Tom, of mine decided to buy a camcorder. Having little bit of knowledge about electronics he decided to go for Sony DCRTRV250. Mostly it is very hard to convince someone especially if their mind is already set on buying something. Being a good friend it was my responsibility to get him the product which is suitable for his needs and is inexpensive. Since he requested for my help I told him to come to the store so that I can guide him in the right direction.

Every single person has needs and wants in today’s society. Based on financial condition most people decide what to buy. For instance, if I am wealthy financially I would buy a nice 42 inch plasma or LCD television. But if I have financial problems I would get something basic like 27 inch picture tube television. They both do the same thing but there is a difference in video quality and the price. It was very important for me to find out around what price range he is looking forward to buy. After seeing all the requirements I told him instead of going for Sony DCRTRV250 he should go for the new minidv camcorder out by Canon, ZR85.

Since there is so much competition and there are new products out, I had a wide variety of selection. There are VHSC, SVHSC, Hi8, Digital8, MiniDv, and DVD camcorders out in the market. Tom wanted something inexpensive, new in the market, and a good quality of video. The first thing I told him was that Sony DCRTRV250 is and old and discontinued model. It does not have a memory card slot so if he takes the picture it would be really hard to find where the picture is in whole 60 to 90 minute tape. Also the night shot in Sony would give green picture in dark areas. Canon camera gives natural color even in low light areas. After demonstrating the video quality of all different types of camcorders he selected the MiniDv type. Besides good video quality he also wanted to be able to take pictures. Then I showed him different brands like Canon, JVC, Panasonic and Sony. After playing around with it he liked the shape, color, and size of Canon and Sony.

Now it was time for me to help him if he should go for Canon or Sony. I said, “Tom do you really want to spend extra $100 for less feature and same video quality?” He looked confused and asked me what I meant. Canon would be a better pick because it has additional 10x optical zoom, and same video and picture quality. The only reason Sony charges more is because of the name. With that extra $100 we can buy and additional memory card and a 2 hours extended rechargeable battery. The minute I said that, he decided to go for Canon ZR 85.

In conclusion, there are new gadgets out ever day but it is important to go for the one that is right for our needs. Tom has been using camera since last six months and he is very happy with the product. He had many opposing reasons like Sony has better reputation and Sony products are available world wide. Now he is realizing that he would have paid $100 extra just for the name.
