Lee and the north rose as the north was lead by George Moade. The North was known as the Yankees that wear blue uniforms and the south know as the Rebels wear gray uniforms.

The battle of Gettysburg was one of the most distrusted battles fought in the civil war. The battle of Gettysburg took three bloody long days. General Lee hoped an invasion would complete the northern peace movement and disrupt the Union war effort. General Lee thought he had a bigger and stronger army of 70,000 men but had known clue that General Moade had an army of 80,000 men.

In the end the North were victorious while the south were defeated. Day 1 Col. Chamberlain gets word that there are about 80,000 men are coming up the road.

They estimate the will be there in about 2 to 4 hours. Col. Chamberlain received 120 men from Maine as his prisoners. He sign for them and is told he may do anything he wishes and there for treats them with respect. He explains to the prisoners why they are fighting. All but 6 of the prisoners decide to help fight. Day 2 Chamberlain's troops are on top of the little round top and are ready to fight. The Rebels plan to attack them on the flank side. They are having a shoot out. The Yankees form a right angle to hold little round top. The Rebels come forward as a large group and the north doesn't have much ammunition left. The Rebels come forth and the shoot out continues. Col. Chamberlains orders for everyone to get the ammunition from the injured. Soon the Yankees run out of ammo and Col. Chamberlain orders them to fight with their bayonets. Col. Chamberlains held little round top and won.

There are many casualties after the battle on day three. Gen. Lee decided he wanted to attack the center where they are most vulnerable and weak. Chamberlain as going to be moved to the middle f the northern line but this was where the south was going to attack. 15,000 of the southern soldiers attacked the center of the northern line. The south rode out for the attack on the northern line and Gen. Longstreet was making more plans for the battle on the northern line.

Many men entered the battle knowing there was a slim chance they would come out alive. After the battle combined more than 53,000 men died at Gettysburg. The battle lasted 3 days July 1st to the 3rd. As they march the north wear blue uniforms and the south wear gray uniforms. Many men died serving there country and wearing their uniforms with honor.

I thought this video was very interesting and exciting. It must have been three long scary days for the soldiers. I would like to own the movie myself and I would watch it again. If I were a history teacher I would have the children watch this movie about the battle of Gettysburg.
