Anxiety Disorders

Total words: 398

Anxiety for many people is a hurdle that they must jump over to live there lives to a full extent. Many people fail, and live there life second-guessing what they do. I want to talk about how the author of the story "Anxiety: Challenge by Another Name" deals with anxiety, how I deal with anxiety, and what starts anxiety.

In the story "Anxiety: Challenge by Another Name" we look at James Lincoln Collier a young man ho has many issues on making good decisions. In the story, he makes many decisions and all the decisions he makes are the wrong one because he is scared on what would happen as an outcome. In the story, he gives up a story to Argentina because he was scared. He never been far from New England, he was worried about the language, and he promise to teach his brother how to sail. In the end he decided not o go and then regretted it when they got back from Argentina. It was that first incident when he made a rule for himself, "Do what makes you anxious; don't do what makes you depressed". (Models for Writers pg73)

I believe it is a very silly thing to have anxiety. I do not have it anymore because I have the mentality you only live once. If you had a chance to go to Argentina for the summer, take it. I think you have to stop being afraid of change. To just take life by the reigns and ride it until you fall. Live life and do not worry about the outcome.

The definition of anxiety is "A state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future uncertainties" (Dictionary.com). That means worrying about things in the future. That is no way to live your life. Anxiety starts when someone tells you about something and it is your choice if you want to do it. Then it comes down to how scary or dangerous it is or what would happen if this or that happened while I was doing it. Anxiety is all in your head and it takes a strong willed person to overcome it.

This essay shows what Anxiety is. People deal with it in many different ways. Anxiety can make people depressed. They always second-guess their decisions. If we as people can stop second-guessing ourselves and go for it, there is no telling what we can accomplish.
